Pearl got into the design field quite by accident. Her personal homes reflected her great style and excellent taste and she was always asked by her friends to help them with their homes. As it turned out, the mother of one of her friends was leasing a house in Malibu and Pearl was asked (and subsequently hired) to design her beach house…the rest is history. test

Through word of mouth she was asked to do other homes in Malibu and, in time, it turned into a business.

The projects became bigger and more challenging as she was asked to help in the design decisions and work with the architects doing remodeling projects and be involved in the hiring of the contractors and running the job from start to finish.

In that same time-line she was approached by the manager of the newly opened Cristofle,  a symbol of luxury and elegance…(the prestigious French silver company) in Beverly Hills to be responsible for doing the windows. Now this really was a challenge -- for this would be a first for Pearl.

That project lasted 6 months and turned out to be the most fun and creative endeavor she had ever engaged in. And she received a lot of press for her “anti-style” approach, which she became well known for.

Following that… Pierre Deux, the popular Country French store on Rodeo Drive had new owners... and they wanted to give the store a face lift, redo the interior, organize merchandise, & help with a fresh new look, all while keeping with the Provence feeling. Again a first

Working with Pierre Deux created the stepping-stone for the merchandising and look of Raw Style…everything was for sale in the store, merchandise was displayed in the furniture & not in display cases. All merchandise was beautifully displayed as in a home setting. “Casual sophistication” was the theme, and that became Pearl’s trademark.

Many jobs followed, and she eventually opened Raw Style Gallery on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, CA.
