Mercedese Bantz has applied her talent to numerous works of art for nearly 25 years. She began in high school painting window art and signs. Over the years she began to develop a distinct style of painting whimsical animals and landscapes in oil and acrylic.

The new TAT2 Art Series is inspired by classic tattoos created in the 50's, 60's and 70's by artists such as Sailor Jerry (Norman Collins), Walter Moskowitz, and Bert Grimm, among others.

These paintings, inspired by vintage tattoo Flash, are reminiscent of the bold colors and simple shapes emphasized by a generous use of black that is dominant in classic tattoo imagery. Tattoo Flash is the art displayed on the wall of every tattooists shop, allowing the customer to choose their design. These fantastic works of art are often sold, traded and copied. the designs are passed from one shop to another, yet the classics have a style all their own.

Each of my paintings is an original design derived from the classics, incorporating both acrylic paint, colored pencil and other materials. The edges of each canvas are set with decorative nail heads to give added dimension. Many of the images can be customized and embellished by adding a specific saying or name on the banner of the art.
