Feeve’s
catalog of art is varied; it includes portraits,
landscapes, cityscapes, pop, abstracts, erotica,
simple line drawings, cartoons, as well as two
series: WordScapes [a series of
clever words or phrases painted on canvas with
ink] and Differently Dotted Dice [a series
of 6-piece renderings in which the artist re-arranges
the dots on dice]. Recently Feeve has explored
works-for-hire in the form of commissions.
As
an artist, Feeve is what most people would call “self taught”, meaning he’s
never really taken anything more than your basic
High School art courses, a few drawing classes
in College, supplemented with occasional night
school art training. He did, in actuality, graduate
with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio; a school he characterizes
as ‘small, but intense’.
Throughout
his life thus far he has maintained an active
creative role on the fringes of the art world,
namely The Advertising Industry. From within
its’ framework he has pursued multiple categories
of art-related projects: layout, design, graphics,
illustration, photography, typesetting, logo development,
as well as TV, film & web-based art.
For
several years, Feeve was an instructor at Portfolio
Center in Atlanta, an art school offering classes
to students of commercial art, photography, illustration,
plus visual skills as it relates to working in
advertising. While the classes he taught were
mostly about creative concepts, writing, & production
of broadcast announcements, Feeve continues to
feel that “a lot of the ‘artistic atmosphere’ rubbed
off on me.”
In
terms of work that has influenced Feeve in his
own artistic vision, he maintains that he likes “most
art in general very much” and actually owns
some. His favorites are Edward Hopper, Wasily Kandinsky,
John Register, Charles Sheeler, Ed Ruscha, Bruce
Nauman, Andy Warhol, Mark Kostabi, Robert Indiana,
John Baldessari, Karl Benjamin, Lorser Feitelson,
and Helen Lundeberg, amongst a few others. His
favorite photographer is David Plowden.
Other
biographical information includes: born during
1958 in Celina, Ohio; after college moved to
Greenville, South Carolina, then to Atlanta,
Georgia, then to Hollywood, California; wants
to eventually move to & live in Northern California
with his wife Stacey Michaels & their two boys,
Sam & Dan. Otherwise, Feeve feels fine & would
like to thank you for asking. |
